Criteria 1: Professional Membership(s) *

Credentialed DBT practitioners are members of an incorporated association of a helping profession (eg. Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Psychotherapy, Counselling)

Criteria 2: DBT Education (CPD Attended) *

Credentialed DBT Practitioners have completed recognised specialist post registration professional development in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Programs such as the Australian DBT Institute & Behavioral Tech’s Intensive Training in DBT or equivalent are expected to have been completed.

Your Experience with the DBT treatment approach *

I have 200+ hours of person-to-person psychotherapy/counselling experience
I have 50+ hours of supervision relating to a minimum of 200 hours of client contact
I am currently or have previously been part of a DBT Program
I have completed Intensive or Comprehensive DBT Training
I am self taught and am providing DBT or DBT adapted services to my clients
I have read Marsha Linehan's DBT Skills Manual
I have no experience with DBT other than some introductory readings
I am a credentialed or certified DBT clinician

Criteria 3: Statement of Practice

Credentialed DBT Practitioners are also asked to complete a Statement of Practice & Supervision which is consistent with a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed approach. Credentialed DBT Practitioners are expected to have an interest in working with individuals with emotion dysregulation and other mental health concerns where the evidence suggests that Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is indicated.

Criteria 4: Continuing Professional Development

Over the last 48 months I have met the CPD requirements of my profession
Over the last 48 months I have NOT met the CPD requirements of my profession

Credentialed DBT Practitioners are required to have acquired minimum continuing professional development points to maintain their professional registration and/or associated professional memberships. Credentialed DBT Practitioners are required to maintain their statement of Continuing Professional Development for their profession and can provide evidence of this if requested.

Criteria 5: Awareness and Interest in DBT

I have awareness of and interest in DBT as outlined in my Personal Statement of Practice

Credentialed DBT Practitioners are required to have completed a Personal Statement of Practice (see criteira 3 above) outlining the theoretical perspective, experiences, self-awareness, knowledge & understanding and reasons for their interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Criteria 6: Professional & Mandated Practices

I have undergone the appropriate screening for my employment
I have not had the below mentioned screening for my employment and confirm that I have no disciplinary action on Professional Registration nor a criminal record

Credentialed DBT Practitioners are expected to have undergone the appropriate screening for their employment which includes: 1. Police Check 2. Working with Children Check (when working with children) 3. No disciplinary action on Professional Registration

Criteria 7: Professional Referees

Credentialed DBT Practitioners are to have their clinical practice supported by two professional referees. Attendees of the Australian DBT Institute or Behavioral Tech LLC’s Intensive and Comprehensive training programs will have their facilitators provide a reference to their clinical practice in a DBT informed manner.
